Working Together: Highlights from My Recent Collaborations

Dear ‘Beyond my Blur’ community,

If you are reading or hearing these words, that means you are supporting my mission in making travelers of all visual capacities more aware of our non-visual world — and for that I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart! ❤️‍🔥

Together, we are making the travel industry more inclusive and us, as humans, more connected to ourselves and our surroundings.

Luckily, bigger organizations have been picking up on this mission too, and have featured  ‘Beyond my Blur’ on their platofrms.

Below, please find an overview of my latest collaborations. 👇🏽

1️⃣ TravelHands (social media collab + newsletter feature 🇬🇧)

TravelHands is an U.K based organization, aiming to help visually impaired people travel more safely and comfortably by pairing them with sighted volunteers.

This non-profit was the first to shine in my social media series ‘Inclusive Travel Stars’, in which I feature organizations and destinations that do their share in making travel more accessible to disabled explorers.

Later, ‘Beyond my Blur’ was featured in TravelHands’  February 2025 newsletter.

For more information, please check their social media account.

2️⃣ Seable Holidays (social media collab 🇬🇧)

Seable designs and offers tailor-made (group) holidays for visually impaired travelers.

To honor their incredible work, they were featured as the second ‘Inclusive Travel Star’.

The video can be found both on the Instagram and TikTok of ‘Beyond my Blur’, as that of ‘Seable’.

3️⃣ Support Group (speaking engagement 🇺🇸)

In April 2025, I officially started working not only as a travel writer, but also as a speaker!

In my presentation(s), I focus both on non-visual experiences all across the globe (section A), as well as on practical (section B) en emotional (section C) travel tips for exploring with a (visual) disability.

4️⃣ Bold Blind Beauty  (website feature  🇺🇸)

In Spring 2025, I was featured as Bold Blind Beauty’s ‘Woman on the Move’ and ‘Monthly Beauty’!

This platform is devoted to A.I.R: access, inclusion and representation, amplifying disabled voices from all over the world.

5️⃣ De Voorste Kamer (interview 🇳🇱)

De Voorste Kamer is the largest audio platform of the Netherlands for visually impaired listeners, and is sponsored by the Royal Library.

Together with my interviewer Ferry, I dove into the sounds, smells and flavors of Utrecht ‘Beyond my Blur’ style  — the city where I lived and studied for many years during my twenties.

You can request the interview via my Instagram/ e-mail (beyondmyblur@gmail.com), or visit www.devoorstekamer.nl to learn more about their audio magazines.

6️⃣ Outlook on Radio Western (podcast interview 🇨🇦)

Non-Dutch speakers — don’t worry!

In June, I was a guest on the ‘Outlook on Radio Western’ radio show, run by two blind siblings all the way from Canada!

We talked about the perception of disability in different cultures, some of my favorite non-visual travel memories, my acceptance journey and struggles with my diagnosis, and so much more!

You can tune into the podcast  on several audio platforms, including Spotify and SoundCloud!

7️⃣ Koninklijke Visio (interview + social media collab 🇳🇱)

Koninklijke Visio is one of the largest Dutch non-profit organizations for the visually impaired.

They support VIPs in all sorts of ways, from providing information on new assistive technology to training and emotional help.

I was interviewed by Marije and together we wrote an article that is now available on Visio’s website.

Read or listen to it here: https://visio.org/home/actueel/nieuws/2025/juli/reizen-met-al-je-zintuigen/

Again, I send a tsunami of gratitude your way! 🌊 If you wish to collaborate or feature Beyond my Blur on your platform, don’t hesitate to contact me!!

With love 🥰,

Marie
